"In our old system, students moved to ‘Submitted’ after completing the requirements and submitting the application themselves. Then, once the reference submitted, they were moved to ‘Completed.’ I think this functionality was much more intuitive and ensured that students in ‘Completed’ status were all the way done, and we’d like to see something similar in AW."

Just checking in on this FER - are there any additional questions regarding this request? If not, what additional information is needed?
Rachel Kynhoff from IU would like to use reference requests on the apply-to opp as a qual on the reviewer group.
"While one can add recommendation letters as a qualifier on the opportunity itself, this makes identifying your "truly qualified" population extremely cumbersome. This makes it difficult to identify those who are qualified but have no letters of recommendation submitted versus those who are qualified and have their letters submitted, i.e., a complete application."

While we too want to provide chances for applicants, I believe that users weigh that desire against their application deadlines when setting them. In other words, if they wanted more opportunities for references to submit late, they’d bump back the deadline. I think it is difficult for users to work with the ‘Submitted’ status if the dates have no bearing on when a student may
In our old system, students moved to ‘Submitted’ after completing the requirements and submitting the application themselves. Then, once the reference submitted, they were moved to ‘Completed.’ I think this functionality was much more intuitive and ensured that students in ‘Completed’ status were all the way done, and we’d like to see something similar in AW.
Additionally, our old system allowed for users to set a separate Recommendation Deadline that was later than the Application deadline. This ensured that references could submit until a later date while keeping students and the references beholden to the dates set.
Finally, our old system allowed for users to individually extend deadlines for students. This was helpful in the event that the student ran into a technical issue at submission, was sick over the weekend and couldn’t complete, had a family emergency, etc.
It sounds like this is needed so they can differentiate between applicants who are still waiting for a reference response and those who have a reference submitted, is that right? Is there a reason the Reference Request column in the application grids doesn't help with this?
