Oliver Mamangun from csulb would like the ability to add an opportunity name merge field in his reference communication templates to clarify which opportunity the applicant is asking for a reference on.
Employee Name | Ashley Pierce |
Client Name "shard name" | mtsu, csulb, csun |
User | System Admin , Reference |
Functional Unit | References, Communications |
It would be awesome if that field could be updated in the future to include the opportunity name and description, or if the applicant can also submit a note to their reference when they enter the reference request name and email. more personalized that way too!
Not having the scholarship/opportunity name in the letter of reference email is confusing for those receiving the email. I get several emails from folks who have no idea what the scholarship is about. This would be very helpful for those submitting the reference as well as saving the Administrator time for supplying the information.
This would be extremely helpful as we use the refence request for faculty to upload projects that they are recommending for students and receiving a general email is confusing specifically.
This addition would be helpful to me too in a variety of communications-including references and reviewers who receive multiple requests.
UW-Madison is still interested in this functionality. It would really help the professors who get asked to be a reference for multiple scholarships for one student.
I would like to see this enhancement as well. We have had several requests from references.
I think this would be very helpful both for students and the person from whom the letter is being requested. I often receive calls/emails from teachers and professors asking if the request is legitimate, or some ignore it altogether because they think it is a phishing email. Adding the name of the scholarship would give it more legitimacy and help the writer personalize the letter. It also would be helpful for me when letters come in late or I have to track them down and then have to figure out what scholarship they go with.
Many clients have brought this up during implementation.
please add this functionality (name of Scholarship on reference email) to identify which scholarships are being requested.
Luis Villa with CNM would also like this added to merge fields.
Please see similar request from Utah in merged enhancement. Their request also mentions grid updates; see below -
"Add the name of the reference / referral to the Reference View of the student when clicked on from the grid view. This is also needed for the reference questionnaire view. When reference providers are sent an email link to provide a reference for an opportunity, the email does not state which scholarship the email link is for. Please provide the name of the Scholarship within the same email as its email link. Both students and reference providers should be able to easily see which scholarship opportunity they are working on."
Alex Mercado from CSUN would also like this enhancement request
Tammy Noragon at Middle Tennessee State University would also like this FER. Here is her reply:
We currently have multiple opportunities set up as "apply-to" as the opportunity requires the student to submit a letter of reference before they can be considered eligible for the scholarship. We request that the student provide an individual's name & email address to send a Reference Request email notice to.
We have received multiple requests from the individual providing the reference that the name of scholarship opportunity the student is requesting the individual to write a letter of reference for be included in the Reference Request email.
For example, student is applying for ABC Scholarship & it requires a letter of reference. Student submits individual's name & email address to request a letter of reference. When reference individual opens email, it currently indicates that the student has requested a letter of reference for a scholarship. But the email doesn't indicate that the letter of reference is to be provided for ABC Scholarship and not Basketball 101 Scholarship. The reference individuals want to make sure that they are including the best information for that student to receive the scholarship. For example, if ABC Scholarship is for aspiring business majors. The reference individual wants to make sure that they highlight the student's business experience. By not knowing the scholarship name, the reference individual may make no mention of the student's business experience and instead talks about the student's drawing ability.
The addition of a new "Available Merge Field" such as "Opportunity Name Requesting Letter of Reference" field that would indicate the opportunity for which the letter of reference is being created would be a huge benefit to our reference individuals & the student would receive a better reference letter as a result.
