Problem:
Midland College awards all their scholarships on a per applicant basis. For each student, they attach a "fund code" that is very specific on how that student is awarded. Some of those fund codes include:
1. Books and fees
2. Tuition and fees
3. Veteran Assistance
The problem is that currently there is not a way in the system to attach a fund code to a specific applicant. Fund codes can only be associated or attached on the opportunity level.
Current Workaround:
Currently, I advised them to use Application Categories. As they award the student they will change the category to "Offered- Books and Fees"instead of just Offered.
Future resolution:
As we move and enhance applicant-centric awarding I think it would be beneficial to add in a place for admins to put additional information- Like book and fees. They could then even report of it. (Like we do scopes).
IU (Indiana) has a very unique case for this request. They need to specify which campus an award should be used. A majority of their funds are administrated at one campus and awarded for that specific campus, but they have a minority that are open to students from all campuses. These funds are stewarded by their foundation or alumni office, and they need to be able to indicate which campus the money should go to.
We did use the administrator question on the specific campus because we discovered it is available in the API. But it would nice to have this field also be present in grids throughout the system.
CFTexas would like to have the ability to add information to an awarded application. Their use case is needing to add a grant number that is unique to each award that is generated from another system.
The same thing can be accomplished by adding a fund code administrator question to each opportunity, and having the administrator answer that question when the award is made.
