Archive Users

Summary: Client would like to deactivate old users of all types (admins, applicants, users, reviewers, etc).  They feel their user grid is becoming cluttered with old users who will not be using the system any more.

Problem: Old users no longer associated with the institution are still visible in search girds, cluttering up views.

Proposed Solution: Allow users to be archived, thus inactivating their account by keeping all historical ties of that user to other objects in the system.  Archived users would either be on a separate tab or there would be a new column to filter against archived vs. non-archived users.

Current Workaround: Suggesting customer create a grid view that sorta by "Current Sign In At" column so that oldest and blank entries appear on bottom.

I would like to be given permission to deactivate users. Every year I spend a lot of time going back and forth with support to deactivate duplicate users. This always happens with references. So much time is spent communicating to the user and support to deactivate. This is insane. Just give me the permission or explain to me why this is a bad idea.

Towson University has asked about this specifically relating to Donor Contact users.

Their concern is with how future deceased/inactive stewardees will be removed once they have been added as contacts. They want to ensure that these users will not be receiving emailed reports or continue to have access to the portal if they are deceased or inactive.
