User wants to change the ability to click on a student file anywhere on the grid. So for example, if she scrolls to the right on a list of students to see some of their information, then when she wants to go into one student's file, she needs to scroll back to the left to click view. Sometimes by the time she has done that, she has visually lost track of which student she was looking at.

I think that another alternative solution to this would be the ability to highlight a row in the grid (like in Excel). Then, it is easier to keep track of which student you are looking at amid all the rows.
